Tritylation of a cis-trans Mixture of 4-t-Butylcyclohexanols – DMAP as Catalyst

  1. A mixture of 4-t-butylcyclohexanol, triphenylmethylchloride, and DMAP in dichloromethane are stirred and heated under reflux for 24 hours to give a 97:3 mixture of the tritylethers (70% conversion).
