One of the first commercial applications of DMAP was in the production of the well known and widely available insecticide chlorpyrifos (1).

Chlorpyrifos

The reaction conditions for the formation of this O-P bond are given as :
DMAP (13.5 mol%), S=P(OEt)2(Cl), [C6H13NMe3]+Cl-, NaCl, H2O, 59 ºC, 2h, 97% Yield
