DMAP is the catalyst of choice for most moderate to difficult acylations. This catalyst has been selected to increase both the rate of production and yield of a number of crop protection products thereby affording reduced costs and environmental impact.

There are many other areas where DMAP has been used to facilitate industrial processes including Phase Transfer Catalysis, modification of Polysaccharides, and production of polymers.
